Aloha and Mahalo for your visit!
For over 50 years Hawaii’s Own has been capturing the island way of life and sharing with
you a taste of the islands.
From humble beginnings, a group of friends, all professors at the University of Hawaii, gathered
together and created a tropical beverage using local island fruit. Their delicious island drink
was so tasty that their family and friends encouraged them to share it with the Hawaiian community.
In 1959, the same year Hawaii became the 50th state, these professors formed a company, and what is
now known as Hawaii’s Own, began. Rooted in the island way of life, Hawaii’s Own from the beginning
appealed to kids and their parents alike not only for daily enjoyment - in the morning, after
school, or as a snack - but also for enjoyment at special occasions and festive gatherings with
family and friends.
Introduced to West Coast supermarkets in 1989, Hawaii’s Own frozen concentrate quickly emerged as a
favorite. Today, Hawaii’s Own can still be enjoyed on both the islands and the mainland found for
purchase in the frozen juice section at many retail supermarkets. Nine distinct items, each with 100%
of the Vitamin C Recommended Daily Allowance, capture the tropical flavors of Mango, Pineapple, Passion
Fruit, Guava, Star Fruit and more. Hawaii’s Own enjoys such excellent distribution in the majority of
western U.S. supermarkets, some grocers even stock all nine flavors.
In March 2008, a small group of food industry veterans, also friends, had the opportunity to purchase
Hawaii’s Own and continue the high standards set by the preceding owner Doc Buyers. Buyers, before his
death, was not only committed to the Hawaiian way of life, but also the future of Hawaii’s Own. The
new operating owners share his values and endeavor to carry on the Aloha spirit by producing distinct,
delicious, tropical beverages - a perfect choice for the entire family. Hawaii’s Own, proudly and
conveniently, brings a taste of the islands right to your home.
